Heading to Bucharest, Romania anybody? Well, even if you're not, you have to check out the crazy, colorful secret alley of umbrellas. Look it up online and you might just book a trip to Romania.

I had many reasons for going to Romania. The history, photo opportunities, weather and the inviting people. But of course I was dying to see the secret alley of umbrellas. Doesn't take much to entertain me, huh?

The secret alley is so secret (not really, just difficult to find) it took me over an hour to locate it once I arrived in the general vicinity. Go figure, I could hunt down the northern lights, find the most remote waterfalls in Iceland but had a difficult time finding a street in Bucharest.

It's not totally all my fault. (Yes, I'm looking for someone else to blame lol) The secret umbrella street is in an alley that during the war was adequately sheltered from bombing. It was a wartime pilgrimage site for the capital’s rich and famous. Over the years, the building and the alley were neglected and went into a state of disrepair.

So, what better way to revive the location, repair the buildings and place dozens of colorful umbrellas overhead. Then start a rumor that it's so hard to find, nobody can find the secret umbrella alley the locals said.

It's a quaint little story and it makes the journey to finding it, that much more fun. I could tell you exactly where it's located, but......It is a Secret! Shhh...

Google it my friends.
