Villa Demidoff outdoor nature park in Italy is a sight to be seen. I was traveling through the Apennine mountain range, which is just north of Florence when I saw a tiny little sign that read, watch him blow smoke through his nostrils. That was enough for me to change my plans and follow the signs. I was intrigued.

I continued driving, following the tiny signs. I was wondering who was "he"? What kind of smoke would he blow through his nostrils? Smoke like a dragon with fire? I was totally hooked on finding out more.

I finally arrived at Villa Demidoff and was delighted to see a wonderland park with water fountains and grottoes, beautiful gardens filled with exquisite plants and flowers. What really caught my eye was a bit scary and I don't scare easily. A sculpture of some sort, maybe made of stone or brick or possibly carved out of mountain rock.

I was standing in front of a massive statue of the Colossus of the Apennines by Giambologna. Seriously, if you ever in Florence, Italy, you have to visit. I snapped many photographs of this behemoth. Of course I wanted to watch him blow smoke. Unfortunately, I was 100 years late.

Back in the day, worshippers would gather inside the statue, yes there are many hidden spaces within the statue. They would light fires and the result would be smoke coming out of the statues nose.

After all the excitement of the statue of the Colossus, I looked around and saw the most gorgeous, serene water Lilly flowers surrounding the massive man. The colors where bright and blended together like magic. I spent the rest of the day taking pictures of these magical flowers and sipping a few espressos.
